ABOUT ME...
Hi!
I'm Ms. Melissant. I know most of you. But for those of you who don't know me, I've been teaching at Parkview for 28 years. Its been wonderful. Time has flown by so fast. I love it. Each year is better. However this year will be a little different and challenging for all of us, but we will get through it.
I am a mom of 2 children who are both married. Their names are Ashley and Jake. I have a beautiful granddaughter, Lorelei. I call her Lou. She is 3. She is the light of my life. As you see by the picture, I love dogs. I have 3. Bouscemi, Sadie and Maggie. The picture looks like Maggie. They keep my house hopping. I also have a cat. His name is Rizzo. All of this keeps me pretty busy in my life.
My education started in Galesburg Illinois. That is where I was born and raised. I graduated high school from there. I went to Northeast Missouri State University, which is now Truman State. I received my Bachelor in Special Education there. I then received my Master's in Teaching and Leadership from Saint Xavier University in 2005.
I love working in my yard, swimming and walking. I walk my dogs everyday. Yes, I walk all 3 dogs at the same time. That takes some talent. I am a lover of diet Pepsi for those of you who know me well. Watch out in the morning if I haven't had my morning diet Pepsi!!! I also love cooking. That's why I love teaching cooking at school and having the Thanksgiving feast every year. It brings so much joy to me.
I love basketball. My son played basketball all his life and I became addicted to it. I am a Miami Heat fan. Yes, I like the Chicago Bulls...but when push comes to shove ...I'm going Miami Heat!!!!! I'm also the same way when watching girls play volleyball and swim. My daughter did these. After years of watching my kids do these sports, a mom just wants to keep cheering the kids on. Especially when I'm in a school and see them all year long! GO WARRIORS!!!!
I love teaching and having all of you in my class. If I don't have you, I love getting to know you in the hallways or during lunch in the cafeteria. I'm here for all of you. Just remember, that you are amazing!!
